For the Steak

Heat the oil in a wok, add the onions and fry until soft and translucent. Add the ginger garlic and fry for a minute, then add the green chillies and the capsicum strips. Stir fry for about 3 minutes, and add the tomato paste and salt. Cook for about 2 more minutes, then add the stock.

Cover and simmer until the capsicum is softened, then add the boiled beef strips and the corn flour paste.

Mix together, and let it simmer for another 5 minutes, then splash on soya sauce and turn off the stove.

For the Chinese Rice

Heat the oil in a deep pan. Add onions followed by ginger garlic, then the carrots. Stir fry for a while, then add the capsicum and sweet corn. Add the drained rice, and stir fry for a couple minutes, then add the hot water and salt.

Let it cook on medium heat until rice is almost cooked and not much water left. Splash on some soya sauce, cover and put in oven or on dum for about 10 minutes.

Serve & Enjoy! :)

W/Salaam, sorry but I have not heard of vinegar meat before. :(

Salaam, i dont have a pressure cooker so approx how long would i boil the steak for????

admin_2's picture

W/Salaam, hard to estimate, depends on the cut of steak, could take between 30-45 minutes.

Will i be using the same amout of water or more?

admin_2's picture

You may need a bit more water when using an open pan, just keep checking on the meat and add if needed.

Is tomato paste tomato purée or ketchup?

admin_2's picture

Peel tomatoes and blend then boil without any water until it thickens in consistency and no water is left.

by rump steak u mean beef undercut???

admin_2's picture

Rump is not as tender as undercut, but you could use undercut if you want.

What can I substitute steak with?

admin_2's picture

W/Salaam, any good cut of beef will work.

Can I use this recipe with chicken? Will it be as flavourful as beef.

admin_2's picture

Yes you can chicken, the flavour will be great but not as good as beef.

In case of chickn will the first step of boiling remain the same?

admin_2's picture

No, with chicken there will be no need to boil first as chicken cooks very first.
